BOARDMAN - Prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m. Monday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church for Charles Richard Rushen, 84, who died early Friday morning at Assumption Village.
Charles was born June 11, 1928, in Campbell, the son of Stephen and Ann (Kopnitsky) Rushen.
He was a 1947 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, a U.S. Navy veteran and retired in 1990 from Wean United, where he worked as a Fitter. Charles was a member of the church, the Steel Valley Harmonica Club, Old Timers Baseball Hall of Fame, St. Luke's Choir and the Ohio Wheelmen.
Charles leaves his wife, the former Roseann Andio, whom he married Oct. 5, 1957; two daughters, Marianne (Kenny Duponty) Rushen of Youngstown and Karen (Mark) Sedmock of North Canton; a son, Paul (Kelly) Rushen of Boardman; a sister, Eva Tiihonen of Georgia; six grandchildren, Lauren (Heath) Halter, Christopher and Andrew Sedmock, Connor, Ryan and Colin Rushen .
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Steve Rushen.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions maybe made to St. Charles Church in memory of Charles.
