AUSTINTOWN-Services will be Friday evening at 8:00 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Charles A. "Chuck" Sweeney age 78 of Canfield who passed away Monday evening at Briarfield Manor.
Chuck was born June 7, 1928, in Youngstown, the son of Charles W. and Ann T. Murphy Sweeney.
He was a graduate of Chaney High School and had worked at the G.M. Lordstown plant as a painter for over 21 years before retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Michael's Church. Chuck is remembered by his family as a dedicated family man, a great story teller, and for his passion for woodworking.
His wife the former Virginia A. Lambert whom he married June 11, 1949, died September 12, 2005.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda A. Gieresher of Phoenix, Karen E. Paul Kalosky of Canfield, and Diane M. Teutsch of Mineral Ridge, a son David S. Mary Ann Sweeney of Struthers, two sisters, Eileen John Polish of Austintown, and Peggy Bill Georges of Harrington Park, NJ, eight grandchildren, Jeff Ana Czoka, Kevin Andrea Czoka, Megan and Jenna Kalosky, Kelly and David Sweeney, and Jillian and Kaitlin Teutsch, and two great-grandchildren, Martin and Ginny Czoka.
Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by an infant son Kenneth Michael Sweeney.
Friends may call Friday evening from 6 PM to 7:45 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
