POLAND - Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, for Christine Rose Kadvan, 84, who passed away Thursday morning at Hampton Woods Nursing Center.
Christine was born Dec. 15, 1928, in New Castle, Pa., a daughter of the late Steven and Margaret (Franco) Naples.
Christine attended Warren G. Harding High School. Prior to being a homemaker and taking care of her family, she worked for G.E. Mazda Lamp Plant.
Christine was also a member of the Poland Village Baptist Church. She loved crocheting and making afghans, baking, cooking and reading her bible.
Her husband, Andrew J. Kadvan, whom she married Nov. 25, 1948, passed away July 2, 2009.
Christine leaves her two daughters, Margaret "Moggie" (Thomas) Bero of Poland and Tina (Thomas) Gilpin of Struthers; her son, Gary Kadvan of Struthers; a daughter-in-law, Betty Ann Kadvan of Poland; 12 grandchildren, Aaron (Jennifer) Bero, Michael Kadvan, Mandi (Douglas) Musser, Lisa (Alan) Clark, Nichole Fray, Ralph Gilpin, Ron (Jamie) Galazia, Jason (Amanda) Gilpin, Joshua Bero, Nick (Darlene) Mshar, Sergio Galazia, and Christopher (Liz) Kadvan; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren on the way.
Christine was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Galazia Tisone; a son, Andrew J. Kadvan Jr.; a grandson, Gary Kadvan; a great-granddaughter, Bella; a sister, Rosemary Fordeley; and a brother, Anthony Naples.
Family and friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Christine's family would like to give a special thanks to Hampton Woods for all of their care and love during her stay.
Material tributes may take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley.
