AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church for Christopher T. "Chris" Nicopolis, 84, formerly of Warren, who passed away at 12:35 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the Hospice House.
He was born on May 27, 1928, the son of the late Thomas and Helena (Panagoulakos) Nicopolis.
He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran in 1954, serving in the Korean War. He worked at Republic Steel in Warren as a general foreman and assistant superintendent from 1953 to 1954. Chris enjoyed boxing, piano, singing, and was an avid Buckeye and Browns fan.
Besides his wife of 16 years, Lorene, he also leaves his stepchildren, Shirley (Jim) McIntosh and William (Lisa) Tisone; and step grandchildren, Lauren, Jillian, Valerie, and Nicholas.
He also leaves behind Joseph (Virglee) Nicopolis, David Nicopolis, Maria (Steve) Reed, Tommy (Susan) Nicopolis, Nicholas Kratsas, Greg Nicopolis, Kimberly (Rocky) Webb, Mark (Beth) Nicopolis, Rob (Michelle) Nicopolis, Lynn Nicopolis, David Lynn Nicopolis, Patrick Nicopolis, Christopher (Amber) Nicopolis, Steven (Renee) Reed, Michael Reed, Heather (Les) Hathaway, Bobby and Ronny Nicosia.
Chris was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Theodore and Stephen Nicopolis and five sisters, Mary Kratsas, Athena Raphtis, Sophia Jarvis, Jennie Charles and Stella Contraos.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, and on Monday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
