Boardman . . Funeral Services will be held Friday at 9:30 Am at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Boardman-Canfield Chapel and 10:00 AM at St. Charles Catholic Church, Boardman for Mrs. Clare M. Wardle age 84, of Boardman who died Monday evening at St. Elizabeth Medical Center , Boardman surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 9, 1924 in Youngstown, a daughter of Michael and Catherine Flanagan Mangan.
Clare was a Navy WWII veteran serving as a court reporter in Norfolk, Virginia. She had earned a Masters degree in Special Education from YSU and was a teacher at Mary Haddow in Youngstown retiring in 1993. She was a member of the church, the Ohio Retired teachers Association, the NEA, the American Federation of Teachers, Tri County Democratic Organization, American Business Women Association and St. Patrick's Grade School Alumni Association. Clara is a citizen of Ireland and the United States. Besides spending time with her family Clare was an avid Tribe fan who loved to watch the game on her TV while listening to the commentary on the radio.
Her husband Robert E. Wardle, Sr who she married October 13, 1944 died Sept. 26, 1964.
She leaves her daughter Cathy Sam Coppola of Struthers: three sons Robert Vivi Wardle, Jr. of Liberty; Christopher Wardle of Tampa, Florida and Timothy Deanna Wardle of Boardman. 7 grandchildren, Tony, Christine, Michael, Tracey, Robert III, Timothy and Ashlynn and 10 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, a sister Eileen Wellington, 2 brothers Michael and Martin Mangan and 3 grandchildren Sean, Dominic and Angela.
Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley or to the donors favorite charity in memory of Clare.
