POLAND - Services will be Friday at 9:30 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, and at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Church for Clyde A. Hunkele age 75 of Poland who passed away Tuesday morning at his home after a lengthy illness.
Clyde was born December 29, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of Albert J. and Margaret A. Heyl Hunkele.
He had served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper during the Korean War, and came to this area in 1967. He had worked at the Graybar Electric Company for over 39 years before retiring as branch operating manager in 1986. He was a member of Holy Family Church where he was a member of the choir, was a Eucharistic minister, had served on its finance committee, parish council, and was the hospital visitation coordinator for over 20 years.
He was also a member of the Poland Samaritan Club.
He is survived by his wife the former, Marjorie A. Bauer whom he married September 22, 1951, three daughters, Kathleen Richard Szmara of Poland, Amy Douglas Scott of Amherst, Oh., and Nancy Ed Hamrick of Bazetta Twp., three sons, Mark Kathy Hunkele of Boardman, Danny of Poland, and Karl Robin Hunkele of New Commerstown, OH, three sisters, Marcella Jakovac of Encinitas, California, Rosemary Robert Rau of Pittsburgh, and Patricia Alex Rossulek of Ferrysville, Wisconsin, three brothers, Clarence Dorothy Hunkele, William Charlotte Hunkele, and Francis Mickey Hunkele, all of Pittsburgh, twelve grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Edward and Alecia Hamrick, and three brothers, Albert J., Richard, and Thomas Hunkele.
Friends may call from 2 to 4, and 7 to 9 PM Thursday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel 2728 Center Rd. Route 224 Poland, Ohio.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of donations to the Holy Family Church building fund.
