Clyde Rhoads

December 13, 1947 — November 21, 2024

AUSTINTOWN — It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Clyde R. Rhoads, 76, who passed away with his family by his side, Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024. A man of immense strength, unwavering dedication and quiet integrity, Clyde leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Born Dec. 13, 1947, in Youngstown, Clyde was a hardworking, devoted husband, father, “Papa” and friend.

He was a proud graduate of Austintown Fitch High School in 1966. He spent the majority of his life working at U.S. Steel, where he worked as a roll turner. For many years, he was known for his precision, strength and work ethic — qualities that were reflected not only in his professional life, but also in the way he approached his family.

He was a 38-year member of Western Star Masonic Lodge #21. He loved buying and selling cars, and attending car shows and car auctions (the Mecum Auto Auction was his favorite). He loved trying to outbid everyone if he thought a deal was great. He enjoyed collecting model cars; his favorite car was the 1964 Chevy Nova II.

Beyond his work, Clyde married the love of his life, the former Dolores DePinto, whom he married Feb. 1, 1992. He was a loving father to Tina (Joseph) Minor of Schererville, Indiana, and Theresa Jones of Lowellville. He was a proud papa to Alexis (David) Mysliwy, Haley and Joey Minor, and Lukas Jones. His family was always his greatest joy and he found peace in the time spent with them.

He was a man of few words, but his love and loyalty were felt in every gesture and every moment shared.

Clyde had a quiet wisdom and a strong moral compass. He believed in doing what was right, working hard and taking care of those you love. He will be remembered not only for the marks he left on the world through his work, but also for the example he set as a man of character, resilience and humility.

Clyde was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Rhoads; mother, Verne Shoemaker; brother, Thomas Rhoads; and sister-in-law, Jacqueline Rhoads.

Family and friends may gather to pay respects 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, where a celebration of Clyde’s life will be held at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital.

Clyde may no longer be with us, but his legacy of hard work, love and dedication will live on in all of us. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

“Rest in Peace, Papa. The Man, The Myth, The Legend.”
