Daniel "Jim" Fox

POLAND – Daniel James Fox, 69, died peacefully on  Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, at Hospice House after a brief illness related to his Alzheimer’s disease.

Affectionately known as “Jim” by those who loved him, he was born March 23, 1949,  the son of the late William and Helen (Reese) Fox.

A 1967 graduate Boardman High School, Jim also attended Youngstown State University before his employment at Youngstown Sheet & Tube. After the closing of the mills, Jim went on to be a toll collector and supervisor on the Ohio Turnpike before his retirement in 2014.

Jim married the love of his life, Linda, on June 19, 1971. They spent many years together enjoying card club and traveling with their family and friends.

Jim was a member of the Boardman United Methodist Church. He was also an avid golfer and participated in the Bedford Trails League for many years. Jim loved nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren on various trips to the beach.

Besides his loving wife, Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his two sons, Mike (Kristin) Fox of Poland and Dr. Christopher (Dr. Jessica) Fox of Mooresville, N.C. He also leaves four grandchildren, Madison, Emma, Landon, and Laiken.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors of  Hospice of the Valley, their care was so appreciated.

Friends and family may pay their respects from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, 2726 Center Road. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Youngstown, OH 44514 or Easter Seals, 299 Edwards St., Youngstown, OH 44502, in Jim’s name.
