WALNUT CREEK - David W. Conway, 89, formerly of Meadowview Drive in Canfield, and more recently a resident of Walnut Hills in Walnut Creek, died Monday, Aug. 15, after an extended illness.
David was born May 5, 1927, in Youngstown, a son of James and Elizabeth Williams Conway.
He was a graduate of Boardman High School and received his undergraduate degree at Bowling Green State University and his Master's Degree from Kent State University. He was employed by Boardman Local Schools as an industrial arts teacher at Boardman High School for 38 years retiring in 1990. He was an army veteran of World War II.
David is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Verna Joan Pealer; and their four children, Nancy (Gregory) Campbell of Keenesaw, Ga., Linda Self of Fort Worth, Texas, Julie (Joseph) Lang of Columbus and James R. (Holly) Conway of Millersburg. He also leaves one sister, Marilyn Ebbert of Pomona, Calif.; a brother, Robert Conway of Howland; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James T. Conway; and a sister, Sarajane Briggs.
Services will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church in Cornersburg, where "Dave" was an active member for many years, on Saturday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m. Calling hours will be held at the church from 1 to 2 p.m.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
