YOUNGSTOWN - Private graveside services were held this morning at Belmont Park
Cemetery for David J. Ellis age 85 who died early Thursday morning at Forum
Northside Hospital. David was born April 24, 1922 in Youngstown, the son of
David and Ruth Thomas Ellis. David was not able to serve in the armed forces
during W.W.II so in order to serve his country he worked at McKenzie Muffler and
at the Ravana Arsonelle as an assembler. He was a member of the Richard Brown
Memorial Church, and spent most of his time volunteering and doing community
service. He was a daily fixture on the Northside of Youngstown where he walked
daily and kept the streets clear of litter.
He was an avid Y.S.U., O.S.U., and Cleveland Indians and Browns fan.
He is survived by his brother Evan Thelma Ellis of Liberty, and his nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five sisters; Victoria Gray, Gladys Funcheon, Mary
Heden, and Gwen Carroll.
