David Vulich

CANFIELD - A prayer service will be Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at 9 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Charles Church for David Vulich, 83, who passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 2018.

David was happiest when he was with his wife, the former Florence Iafigliola, whom he married on Dec. 26, 1959. She passed away on Nov. 29, 2012. Together they built a loving life that included four children.

The son of the late Joseph and Eda Vulich, he was born and raised in Cleveland. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Joseph, Robert and Benedict and one sister, Catherine.

A 1952 graduate of Collinwood High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army the same year. He proudly served his country in the Unites States and in Tokyo, Japan. In 1961, he received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Fenn College, Cleveland State University.

During his career, Mr. Vulich worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington D.C. After leaving the FBI, he returned to Cleveland, where he spent 25 years as a purchasing agent at the Fisher Body plant of General Motors. In 1970, he accepted a transfer to the GM Lordstown facility and subsequently moved his family to Boardman. He retired from the General Motors Corporation in 1988.

A devout Catholic, Mr. Vulich was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, where he and his late wife served as Eucharistic ministers for the church and its homebound parishioners. He was a member of the Men's Renewal Team, Family Life Committee, and Pre-Cana Ministry.

David played bocce weekly with longtime friends known as "The Bocce Boys". He and his wife were members of the Crazy 8's Couples Club. With his reserved disposition and pleasant demeanor, many affectionately referred to him as "Quiet Crow." A suiting nickname established from his daughters activities in YMCA's Indian Princesses, along with his Croatian descent. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan.

Their love of travel brought "Dave" and "Flo" to Singapore, Europe, and the Mediterranean. They especially enjoyed traveling to their homelands of Croatia and Italy.

Mr. Vulich leaves three daughters, Nadine (David) Nees of Sylvania, with whom he resided, Laura (Humphrey) Fradl of North Canton and Claudia (Brian) Coote of Wadsworth; a son, David of Canfield; six grandchildren, Leah and David Nees, Andrea and Gina Fradl, and Alaina and Brian Coote; sister-in-law Teresa Iafigliola of Willoughby; and eight nieces and nephews. He also leaves two grand-dogs, Lily, and his constant companion, Maxine.

Family and friends may call on Monday, Jan. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Internment will take place at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
