Austintown- The good Lord ushered Dean K. Little, age 80, into His Holy presence on September 18, 2008 after his courageous battle with cancer.
Dean was born on September 7, 1928 in Youngstown. He was the son of Ethel May Dawson Little and Nolan Brown Little. He trusted and loved his Lord Jesus and loved his family, friends, and others. Dean enjoyed people and will be remembered for his caring, sharing and friendly ways.
Dean enjoyed farming, gardening and his Gravely tractor. He was an avid gifted handyman. While his wife worked at Family Christian Pre-School, Dean enjoyed repairing toys, and would act as a grandparent for any child that may not of had one on special days. He worked with the maintenance crew at the Canfield Fair for several years and sold tickets as well at the Grandstand with his son. Dean and his wife enjoyed serving together in several ministries at Highway Tabernacle Church including Two to One Married Couples ministry, Fifth Quarter ministries, Greeter ministry, Seniors Group, Monday Night Evangelistic ministry, and some years as a Usher.
Dean graduated from Canfield High School in 1946. He was a Football and Track player in high school. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio on June 12, 1950, with a major in pre-med. He was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity while there. During his sophomore year in college he was the Baseball and Basketball Manager. After graduation Dean went to serve our country in The United States Navy. He served in the Korean War and earned the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class Hospital Corps Man. During his duration in The United States Navy he worked in the Naval Hospital performing a variety of Lab Tests including Allergy tests. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, his employment included work in Special Libraries with the Babcock and Wilcox Company and the Sylvania Company. He worked in sales for General Ionics. Before retiring in 1997, he worked for the Better Business Bureau for 19 years as their lead salesman.
He leaves behind his best friend and beloved wife of 22 years Gladys Barbara McBride Little, a daughter Diann Floyd Barron of Leetonia, a son U. S. Naval Commander Jeff Ravy Little of Jacksonville, Florida; stepsons, Chris Maureen Yambar and Tim Yambar all of Youngstown, step daughters Katie Davis of Austintown, and Sharon Yambar of Youngstown; seven grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Ashley, Jana, Joseph, Daniel, and Joshua... all dearly loved.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Bert Little.
Funeral Services will be Monday 10AM in the Highway Tabernacle Church with Pastor Joel Tice officiating.
Friends may call Sunday from 4-7PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and Monday one hour prior to services 9-10AM in the Highway Tabernacle Church, 3000 S. Raccoon Rd.
