Deborah Schiavone

BOARDMAN- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Church for Deborah Schiavone age 54 of Boardman who passed away Thursday afternoon surrounded by her family at her home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Debbie was born July 5, 1951, in Youngstown, the daughter of William J. and Joan V. Harrison Reardon.
She was a 1969 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, and in 1973 graduated from St. Mary's College of Notre Dame, Indiana. She later earned her Masters Degree in English from Youngstown State University in 2000. Debbie had a lifelong passion for teaching and began her career as an educator at Boardman Center Middle School where she had taught for three years. While raising her family she took on an active role at St. Charles School, where she had been a substitute teacher, served as president of its Home and School Association, chaired its Academic Programming Committee, and initiated the Mardi Gras Celebration. She later taught English and French at Poland High School for over sixteen years until the time of her illness. In addition to her teaching duties at Poland High School Mrs. Schiavone also served as the moderator of the National Honor Society, director of Students Against Drunk Driving SADD, and chairperson of the French Club. Debbie had also volunteered as a moderator for the High School English Festival at Youngstown State University for many years.
She was a dedicated member of St. Charles Church where she was an Eucharistic Minister, a former president of its Pastoral Council, a chairperson of the Activities and Ministries Committee and the Stewardship Fair, and had been a member of the Christ Renews His Parish Renewal Program.
Debbie was also a member of the Youngstown Junior League, Youngstown Country Club, the Catholic Collegiate, and was the Vice. President of Savvy Investment Systems investment club. She was an avid supporter of Catholic education and was a member of the Cardinal Mooney Alumni Board, and St. Mary's Alumni Association.
Debbie will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband Daniel Schiavone whom she married July 28, 1973; two daughters, Dr. Dana Ryan Goldberg of Columbus and Jennifer Schiavone at home and her friend Zack Sabo of Stow; two sons, A.J. Jaime Schiavone of Columbus and Daniel Stefanie Schiavone of Poland; a granddaughter Giovanna Noel Schiavone; her mother Joan Reardon of Boardman; two sisters, Colleen Dr. Edward Novosel of Liberty Twp., and Judith Britt Greene of Poland; four brothers, William Karen Reardon of Liberty Twp., Dennis Lisa Reardon of Poland, Terry Judy Reardon of Boardman, and Atty. Timothy Suzie Reardon of Canfield; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Anthony and Isabel Schiavone of Boardman and their daughter Phyllis; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father William J. Reardon.
Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 8 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel
