POLAND - Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at 12:30 p.m., at the Prince of Peace Church, Center Road in Poland, for Dennis Shilling, 64, who left to be with Jesus, Thursday morning at Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.
Dennis was born Feb. 8, 1951, in Youngstown, the son of Kenneth and Mabel Shilling.
Dennis was a graduate of Struthers High School, entering the U.S. Army and serving our country during the Vietnam War. After a tour of duty, he became a diesel mechanic.
He loved going on vacations to Ft. Myers Beach, Fla., Las Vegas, and Atlantic City, N.J. Dennis' passion was NASCAR racing, fishing and golfing.
Dennis leaves his beloved wife of 40 years, Karen Patterson Shilling; his daughter, Tammy Decker Cracraft of Struthers; son Ryan Patterson of Poland; a sister, Judy (Earl) Haddle of Boardman; a brother, Ted Shilling of Boardman; four grandchildren, Justin Decker, Todd Decker, Brittany Decker and Jake Cracraft; two great-grandchildren, Nya Marie Decker and Arianna Skye Bryner; nephews Jeremy and Jamie Haddle and Shawn Shilling; and a niece, Shannon Shilling.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church.
