AUSTINTOWN - Services will be Monday at 11:00 AM at the Idaho Road Alliance Church in Austintown for Denzil "Bud" Matheny age 73 who passed away Thursday at his residence going to join his wife and be at home to with the Lord. Bud was born November 7, 1934 in Clarksburg, WV, the son of William and Della Matheny. He had worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube as a pipe inspector for over 30 years before retiring. After his retirement he delivered medications for the Medicine Shoppe on the West side of Youngstown. He was a dedicated and active member of the Idaho Road Alliance Church where he served as Senior Elder and on its worship team. He also was active in visiting church members who were shut ins and those that had suffered an illness. Bud was an avid sports fan especially for the Browns and Indians.
He is survived by his three sons, Denzil Laurie Matheny Jr. of Brookfield, Dave Doreen Matheny and Dan Gina Matheny both of Youngstown, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, the former Shirley Paugh, his parents, a sister Jean Smith and two brothers Eugene and Bill Matheny.
Friends may call from 5 PM to 8 PM Sunday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, and Monday from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the church.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the church memorial fund in Bud's memory.
