Dian Emerson

Poland - Services will be Sunday at 3:45 PM at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Poland Chapel for Dian Emerson, 70, of Poland, Ohio, formerly of Janesville, Wis., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday afternoon in her home.

Dian was born September 8, 1936 in Prairie du Chien, Wis., and was the daughter of Warren and Mary Louise Pier Shawley. Dian was a 1971 graduate of Youngstown State University where she received a degree in Nursing, won the Clinical Excellence Award, and was Valedictorian of her class. She retired from Cafaro Hospital as a Registered Nurse for 17 years, was a Nurse for Hospice of the Valley, a member of the Retired RN Association, and a long time member of St. Teresa?s Monastery and St. Christine?s Church. She was a loving wife, caring and giving mother and grandmother affectionately known as "Gree" and "Dee-Dee" , sister, aunt and friend.

She will be sadly missed forever by her high school sweetheart and husband Darwin E. Emerson whom she married July 24, 1954, her four adoring daughters and son-in-laws Cindy and Sam Huffstetler of North Benton, Ohio, Sandy and Danny Neveu of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Sheri and Joe Duff of Westerville, Ohio, Susan Emerson of Columbus, Ohio, two sisters and brother-in-laws Todd and Jim Schott of Englewood, Fla., Lee and David Graap of Janesville, Wis., sister and brother-in-law Molly and Eugene Drallmeier of Plover, Wis., five grandchildren Joey and Christy Bindas, Katie and Sara Huffstetler, Sarah Gesteniah, and several nieces, nephews and many many friends.

Dian is preceded in death by her Grandma Pier, her parents, two daughters, Cris and Angela Emerson, a brother, Phillip Shawley and grandson Jason.

Dian loved traveling with her husband and friends, fishing, playing cards, biking, sewing, crafts, walking, but most of all, spending time with her family and friends. She will be in our hearts forever.

Friends may call Sunday, Nov. 19th from 2:00 - 3:45 PM at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Poland Chapel, 2726 Canfield Road Rt. 224, Poland, Ohio.

Following the service, there will be an open reception to celebrate her life at the Clubhouse at Trotters Chase, 695 East Western Reserve Road, Poland, Ohio.
