AUSTINTOWN ? Dino Parisi departed this world early Sunday morning and when he did he left broken hearts and many tears, but also; much love, lessons learned and a family that loved him immensely. Anyone who knew him knows what at wonderful man he was and how much he will be missed.
Dino was born on Jan. 15, 1919, in Rimer, Pa., the son of John and Rosalia Caliari Parisi.
Dino leaves his loving wife of 66 years, the former Agnes ?Aggie? Welsh, whom he married Dec. 2, 1943; two daughters, Cathy Dale Foster of Boardman and Carol Larry Myers of Oak Hill, Va.; four grandchildren, who adored him as much as he did them, Marc Ashlie Foster of Renton, Wash., Amy Paul Gobel of Boardman, Michelle Jason Wall of Middletown, Del., Michael Kelsey Myers of Fairfax, Va. and Amy?s friend from childhood and like a granddaughter, Dr. Jeannie David Breitfelder Fiumara of White Marsh, Md.; and seven great-grandchildren, who added even more joy to this life, Jessica and Courtney Gobel, Ann Stewart and Ruby Wall, Taylor and Chloe Foster and Rylan Breitfelder.
Dino served in the Army in World War II as an engineer in the Philippines, Luzon, Alaska and Australia. In Alaska, he worked on The Alcan Highway and had the privilege of riding on it while in Alaska years later.
Upon coming home from the war, he worked as a heavy equipment operating engineer for the J. D. Fowler Construction company for 41 years, retiring Oct. 31, 1981. Dino was the oldest living active member in the Operating Engineers Union No. 66 A, B, being honored last October for 70 years of service.
Upon retiring his interest turned to; building or fixing things for family and friends, some traveling, his summer garden, and his antique cars. He especially enjoyed making pizzelles for his grandchildren. Dino was an active charter member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Austintown, where he ushered every Sunday morning at the early Mass. He was also very much involved in; the Model T Ford Club, Local 66 Retiree?s and the Immaculate Heart of Mary?s Senior Citizens Club.
Preceding him in death and waiting to greet him again are his parents; his in-laws, Peter and Catherine Welsh; his brothers, Frank, Angelo and Geno; his sisters, Paula Filippi and Edith Yuhasz; and many family members, and lifetime friends.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
Prayers will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Center Building Fund in honor and memory of Dino.
