POLAND - A private memorial Mass was celebrated Saturday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Dolores H. "Dee" Jones, 85, who died Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at Shepherd of the Valley in Poland.
Dolores was born July 7, 1932, in Youngstown, the daughter of Ralph J. and Helen L. McNally Smith.
She was a 1951 graduate of Ursuline High School.
She then worked for Ohio Bell Telephone Company for 32 years, starting out as an operator, and eventually being promoted to Senior Statistical Clerk before retiring.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and a volunteer at its "Bear Workshop" for children.
She and her husband entertained as clowns at schools, hospitals, nursing homes and other venues in Florida. She had moved from Liberty Township to Florida in the 80s, and returned to the area one year ago from Stuart, Fla.
Dee loved to golf, play cards and shop. She especially enjoyed spending time with her sister and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Edward E. Jones, whom she married Sept. 16, 1961, died Nov. 5, 1995.
Dee is survived by one sister, Shirley (Randel) Boyles of Ellsworth Twp.; nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia A. Kubala, and her twin sister, Dorothy M. Johnston; and two brothers, Ralph J. Smith, Jr. and Edgar J. Smith.
Burial will take place in Tequesta, Fla.
The family would like to thank Shepherd of the Valley of Poland for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Dee during her stay.
