DOLORES 'DEE' J. SMITH MOORHEAD
CANFIELD - Dolores "Dee" J. Smith Moorhead, 85, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at her home following a long battle with cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Dee was born on Dec. 5, 1936, in Youngstown to Lauren C. and Margaret Fullerton Smith.
She was a 1945 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. She lived most of her life in the Youngstown area, but did spend 20 years in Spring, Texas, moving there in 1980. She returned to Youngstown following the death of her beloved husband, H. Paul Moorhead, whom she married on May 11, 1968.
She worked for many years for a number of dry cleaners, both in Youngstown and Spring. She was a devoted member of the Trinity Methodist Church and was active in the church's women's group. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid fan of sports. She loved her family, friends and shopping for clothes.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Gary Walters of Boardman; daughter Laura-Lynn Pleasant of Houston; five grandchildren, Craig Walters of Boardman, Mark Walters of Youngstown, Jennifer Aaron Benzel, Ashley Hoel, and Matthew Hull, all of Texas; five great-grandchildren, Anna Walters, Megan and Joshua Benzel, and Gavin and Balin Hoel.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul; brothers Edward and Lauren Jr.; and sister Ruth.
A funeral service will be held at the Higgins Reardon Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at 11 a.m.
Family and friends may call one hour before the service.
Internment will take place with her husband in Spring, Texas.
The family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
