LIBERTY TOWNSHIP - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 6 p.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, with the Rev. Msgr. Robert Siffrin as celebrant, for Mrs. Dolores "Dee" J. Orlando, 82, who passed away peacefully early Saturday morning at Liberty Health Care Center.
Mrs. Orlando, affectionately known as "Dee," was born on July, 31, 1933, in Youngstown, daughter of Carmen and Josephine (Vitullo) Leone, and was a lifelong resident of the area.
She graduated from East High School in 1951, before enrolling in the North Side Hospital College of Nursing, from where she graduated in 1955 with her BSN. Following graduation, Dolores was one of the first females in her family to move across the country. She accepted a job as an RN in California, where she worked for one year. She later moved back to Youngstown area, and worked as an RN for Northside Hospital in Recovery, University Hospital, Dr. Marcella Orthopedics, and General Electric, from where she retired in 1993.
Dolores was a lifelong member of St. Edward Catholic Church, where she was very active. She was known for being the family nurse, caring for anyone who needed it. She enjoyed bowling and family time, especially with her grandson, Samuel, to whom she was very close.
Dolores's husband of 44 years, Felix Orlando, whom she married on May 21, 1966, died April 26, 2010.
Dolores leaves behind her daughter, Marcy Orlando of Liberty; son Philip (Lesley) Orlando of Liberty; sister Rita Finelli of Girard; two brothers, Ray (Louise) Leone of Liberty and Carmen (Donna) Leone of Poland; and grandson Samuel.
Besides her parents, Carmen and Josephine, and husband Felix, Dolores was preceded in death by her sister, Jessica Chianese; and two brothers-in-law, George Finelli and Mario Chianese.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 4 to 5:50 p.m. at the church.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staffs of St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center and to Liberty Health Care for the kind and compassionate care of Dolores.
