YOUNGSTOWN - Dominic J. Arcari, beloved husband and dad, passed away on Jan. 12, 2009, at St. Elizabeth¹s Health Center, after complications from heart
surgery.
Dom was born March 2, 1929 in Philadelphia, the son of Luigi Arcari and Angeline Macirelli Arcari.
He had two brothers, Nick and Tony and one sister, Antoinette, all deceased.
He attended Girard College grades 1 thru 12 in Philadelphia, where he played trumpet in the marching band and the swing band, and he also played soccer.
He graduated in January of 1947.
After a long career of 43 years at Kaiser/National Refractories as a Pricing Supervisor of high temperature brick, Dom retired in 1990.
Dom met the love of his life, Angelina Paradiso Arcari, in 1945. The childhood sweethearts were married June 10, 1950, and would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this year.
In addition to his beloved wife, Angie, he is survived by his lovingdaughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Bob Kopac of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; and loving daughter, Jan Arcari of Orlando. He also leaves his sisters-in-law, Mary Arcari of Philadelphia, Vera Arcari of Cherry Hill, N.J., Catherine Tropia of Darby, Pa., and Millie Macomber of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; numerous nieces and nephews, his extended ³Hummer² family from Girard College, as well as many friends who will all miss him dearly.
Dom was a crossword puzzle aficionado, especially the Sunday New York Times, which he enjoyed doing with his wife, Angie. He loved to golf and bowl and belonged to leagues for many years. Dom loved sports, big band music, and played guitar.
Vibrant and full of life to the end, Dom lived and loved life to the fullest with his ³best buddy² Angie. He was a kind, generous, intelligent man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was beloved by many and will be sorely and
deeply missed.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, Jan. 17, from 1 to 2 p.m. with a Memorial service at 2 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, 2726 Center Road Route 224 in Poland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dom¹s memory tothe American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
