YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will begin Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Christine Church for Dominic P. "Creed" Prologo Jr., 74, who died early Saturday morning, surrounded by his family.
Dominic was born July 9, 1942, in Youngstown, the son of Dominic P. and Emma (Smetana) Prologo Sr.
He was a 1961 graduate of Ursuline High School, where he was a stand-out football player. Dominic worked as a laborer at Sheet and Tube for 28 years, and retired from the Canfield School District after 20 years of working as an athletic custodian. Dominic was a member of St. Christine Church. He coached football at Ursuline and St. Christine School for many years. Dominic also coached softball for the Mill Creek Jr. Softball League.
Above all, he adored his grandchildren, and especially loved watching their sporting activities.
His wife, the former Priscilla Sainato, whom he married April 11, 1964, died April 23, 1994.
Dominic is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Angelo) Babbaro of Canfield; son Dominic F. (Kerry) Prologo of Canfield; brother Frank (Jackie) Prologo of North Jackson; five grandchildren, Angelo, Frankie and Michael Babbaro and Ali and Vincent Prologo; his niece and several nephews; and his loyal companion, his dog, Champ.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Patrick and John Prologo.
Family and friends may call on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the rehabilitation staff at Austinwoods Nursing Home for the excellent care and compassion given to Dominic.
