CANFIELD-Services will be Thursday morning at 11:00 AM at the Disciples Boardman Christian Church for Don C. Hall age 69 of Canfield who passed away Sunday afternoon at Briarfield at Ashley Circle after a lengthy illness.
Don was born April 13, 1937 in Youngstown, the son of Carl George and Geraldine Wilson Hall.
He was a 1955 graduate of Boardman High School, and later earned his Civil Engineering Degree from Ohio University in 1959. He was a registered professional civil engineer for over 35 years. He had been the Vice President of Bucheit Construction, and later was the chief building official for Mahoning County for more than ten years before retiring two years ago.
Active in community affairs Don was a 38 year member of Boardman Rotary where he had served as president 1978-1979, and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was the father of Boardman Rotary's major fundraiser the Octoberfest, and was proud of his 37 years of perfect attendance. Don was also a frequent and welcome visitor to the Rotary Club of Canfield.
Mr. Hall had served as the district chairman to the Western Reserve District of the Boy Scouts of America, and had been awarded the Silver Beaver the highest honor bestowed by Boy Scouts of America, and was awarded the Cliff Dochterman Award for his years of distinguished and dedicated service. He was a board member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Youngstown, and had served on the board of Forest Lawn cemetery. He was a member of the Four Square Club, and a longtime member of the Disciples Boardman Christian Church.
Don will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother by his family, He is survived by his wife the former Barbara Brakeman whom he married September 22, 1962, a daughter Cathleen Jeff Malaniak of Poland, two sons, Doug Cathi Hall of New Bremen, Ohio, and Todd Holly Hall of Marysville, Ohio, a sister, Janet Fred Jones of Salem, eight grandchildren, Dain, and Taylor Malaniak, and Emma, Sarah, Caylie, Olivia, Paige and Brody Hall, and a niece Lori Mickey.
Friends may call Wednesday from 3 PM to 7 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, and Thursday morning from 10 AM to 10:45 AM at the Disciples Boardman Christian Church.
Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Boardman.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the Disiples Boardman Christian Church memorial fund or to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Youngstown in Don's memory.
