YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will begin Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church for Donald K. Caspary, 94, who died early Monday morning at Humility House.
Donald was born Oct. 2, 1919, in Youngstown, to Louis and Linnie (Schultz) Caspary.
He attended Wilson High School and began his career at Republic Steel until joining the USS Police Department in 1947. He retired from Y and N Railroad in 1979, after 30 years as an assistant train master.
Donald was a member of St. Joseph Church, their Men's Club, and also an usher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and was very active at the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
His wife, the former Margaret T. Kazy, whom he married Aug. 14, 1941, died Jan. 21, 1987.
Donald is survived by two daughters, Margaret Louise Horn of Tucson, Ariz. and Tina (Dave) Boulton of Youngstown; three sons, Donald J. (Mary) Caspary of Canfield, James N. (Dianne) Caspary of LeCanto, Fla., and Tim J. Caspary of Lake Milton; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Kenneth, Aaron, Frank, Fleet, Alan and Ralph Caspary and three sisters, Betty Humble, Julie Cavucci and Sarah Traficant.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff at Humility House for their wonderful care and has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
