Donald Davis

September 27, 1943 — February 3, 2016

HUBBARD - Donald Owen Davis, 72, died peacefully Wednesday evening, at Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in October.

Mr. Davis was born on Sept. 27, 1943, in Youngstown, son of George S. and Dorothy (Gallugher) Davis, and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Donald was a very proud graduate of East High School in 1962. After graduating high school, Donald enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam war. Following his honorable discharge, Donald began his career as a tow motor operator at Delphi/Packard Electric, before retiring in 2006, after 39 years of service. Donald was a member of the local Amvets, an avid reader, music lover, and card player. He was a huge Ohio State football fan, and enjoyed being on his farm. Lastly, Donald loved riding his Harley, traveling with his wife and spending time with his 11 grandchildren.

Donald leaves his loving wife, the former Cheri L. Washington, whom he married on Jan. 27, 1999. He also leaves his two children, Kristina (Jeff) Miller of Poland, and Donald O. (Catherine) Davis Jr. of Olmsted Falls; sister Delores (James) Mckee of Austintown; brothers George (Judith) Davis of Poland, and Larry Davis of Poland; 11 grandchildren, Joseph, Bethany, Ryan, Joel, Jillian, Jessica, Jaxon, Anna, Mark, Sean, and Maria; and his beloved animals.

Besides his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his son, Sean Davis; brother Robert E. Davis; and sister-in-law Shirley Davis.

A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Hospice House for their compassionate care of Donald, and requests that material tributes be donated in Donald's name to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.

Arrangements of comfort and care are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
