CANFIELD - Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral in Boardman-Canfield Chapel for Donald B. Gahagan, 77, who died Friday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Don was born Aug. 5, 1932, in Punxsutawney, Pa., the son of John and Nellie Burkett Gahagan.
Don had served in the Korean War as a medic from 1953 to 1955. He later worked as a heavy equipment operator as a member of the Operating Engineer Local No. 66 before retiring. He also was a member of Musician Local No. 86, and was a drummer in the Rocky Chirchiglia Band for many years. Don also enjoyed painting and used all mediums of paint to create his artwork.
Mr. Gahagan is survived by three sons, Donald B. Mary Gahagan of Napoleon, James D. Milissa Gahagan of Austintown and Jeffrey P. Cindy Gahagan of New Middletown; two sisters, Mabel Bill Hauger of Cincinnati and Helen Little of Cleveland; a brother, Wesley Joanne Gahagan of Boardman; and four grandchildren, Kelly, Melissa, Jonathan and Andrew Gahagan.
His wife, the former Betty States, whom he married Nov. 22, 1952, died April 26, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jamie Gahagan; and a brother, Charles Lee Gahagan.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
