YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will begin Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at St. Christine Church, Youngstown, for Mr. Donald S. Leslie, 74, who died early Monday at Greenbriar.
He was born Feb. 2, 1938, in Youngstown, a son of Steven and Ann Roman Leslie.
Donald was a 1956 graduate of Wilson High School and had attended Youngstown State University.
He was an Army veteran and started his career at Mahoning Bank and retired from Sky Bank in New Castle, Pa., in January of 2006 as a recovery specialist.
Donald was a former member of St. Dominic Church and a current member of St. Christine, he had coached fifth and sixth grade basketball at St. Dominic's and Boardman youth baseball.
Donald was a member of the Boulevard Golf Association the Youngstown Credit Association.
He was an avid sports fan especially Notre Dame and the Cleveland Browns, but his greatest joy was being at the beach with his family on vacation.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, the former Marietta LaCivita, whom he married June 10, 1961; a daughter, Tricia Morgan of Akron; a son, Steve J. Julie Leslie of Boardman; sister-in-law Carol Roncone; four brothers-in-law, Robert Sandy LaCivita of Cleveland, Ralph Karen LaCivita of Naples, Fla., Steve Carol LaCivita of Chicago, and Roland Bodine of Poland; six grandchildren, Trey, Christian, Brooke and Cameron Morgan, and Daniel and Grace Leslie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Bodine; and one grandson, Jacob Matthew Leslie.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Don's memory.
The family would like to thank Dr. Santuccio Ricciardi, Dr. Knight and the nurses at the Hope Center and Julie and Carol from All Caring Hospice for their compassionate care during Don's illness.
