NAPLES, FLA. - Donna E. Brocker, 68, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, following a long and courageous battle with cancer at home with family at her side.
Donna was born Jan. 4, 1950, in Youngstown, a daughter of Dorothy (Trout) and Chester Bailey.
She grew up in Youngstown and graduated from South High School, Class of 1968.
Donna had a special affinity for Idora Park. Her childhood home on Bonnie Brae Avenue was in the shadow of the park.
She married Dr. Robert J. Brocker Sr. in 1973. She left her job as an X-ray technician at Southside Hospital and moved to Canfield. There she was a member of the Junior Women’s League for many years and served as president. Donna was instrumental in bringing the Ulster Project to Mahoning County. She was passionate about the work. A CPR instructor in the Canfield Schools for many years, she certified hundreds of students in first aide.
Donna was a member of the Canfield Presbyterian Church. She loved golfing and played in various leagues in Ohio and Florida, where she also enjoyed her bridge club.
In addition to her husband of 45 years, Robert, Donna will also be missed by her eight children, Bob (Kathy), Bill (Susan), Barry (Darla), Bruce (Debbie), Brian (Marli), Brad (Heidi), Brent and Beth; 29 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her nephews, Sean Bailey and Scott (Kelly) Bailey.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bruce Bailey.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Canfield Presbyterian Church.
