Donna James

September 9, 2008 — January 2, 2008

YOUNGSTOWN There will be services at 5 p.m. Saturday at the
Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, for Donna D. James, 79, who passed away Wednesday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Donna under went surgery for a defibrillator Friday, Dec. 7, 2007. The next morning she went into respiratory arrest from choking on mucous secretions. By the time the hospital staff was able to revive her, the brain had suffered from the lack of oxygen, thus causing irreversible brain damage.

Donna was a trooper. She was a 17 year breast cancer survivor and went on to have a triple bypass eight years ago that lapsed into congestive heart failure, diabetes, and renal failure.

Her love for life, people, and animals kept her going and through all of these medical conditions she never ever complained.

Donna was born Sept. 9, 1928 in Youngstown, the daughter of Harold and Mildred Webb.

Donna graduated from South High School and went on to Youngstown College, graduating after four years with a business degree. She then met her former husband, Angelo James, whom she married and had four daughters and a son.

During her marriage and while raising her children, she helped her husband in his snow plowing and restaurant businesses Angelo¹s Restaurant.

Following her marriage, Donna went on to work in the dietary department at Southside Hospital for more than 15 years before retiring. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church.

Donna loved to cook and feed people. Friends and family affectionately recall how she taught them how to cook and how you never left empty handed when you went to her home for a meal. Donna was a very positive thinker and strong willed woman, this made her a pillar to her family and friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed greatly.

She is survived by her four daughters, Denise and her husband, David Bopp of Boardman, Joni and her husband, George Summers of Hubbard, Tamy and her husband, Donald McBride of Cave Creek, Ariz., and Michele and her husband, Robert Roman of Boardman; five grandchildren, Tony Ambrose and his wife, Melanie of Canfield, Christie Summers of Hubbard, Nick Riley of Cave Creek, Ross McBride of Cave Creek, and Robbie Roman of Boardman; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Anthony Ambrose of Canfield; her former husband, Angelo James of Niles; and her two fur babies that she absolutely adored, Toby and Sputz.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Angelo James.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Family and friends are also invited to a mercy dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday evening at the Highway Tabernacle Fellowship Hall.

Because of Donna¹s great love for animals, in place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alchemy Acres Animal Sanctuary, a non profit 501c3 no kill sanctuary for abandoned and abused domestic animals, 1859
Depot Road, Salem, OH 44460.
