AUSTINTOWN - Prayer services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Austintown, for Mrs. Donna J. Zoldak Monk, 77, who died Monday morning at ValleyCare NorthSide Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Youngstown, a daughter of Stanley and Bertha Paczkowski Szymanski.
Donna was a graduate of The Rayen School and had worked for the Mahoning County Dept. of Human Services as a caseworker, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the church, the Canfield AARP and the Saxon Club. Her greatest enjoyment was her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and her great-granddaughters.
Donna was married to Joseph S. Zoldak, whom she married Feb. 11, 1956, and he died Dec. 8, 1973.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Richard Monk, whom she married Sept. 1, 1990; one daughter, Christina Mark Sheppa of Solon; stepdaughter, Amy Monk of Youngstown; one son, Joseph Esmeralda Zoldak of Austintown; one stepson, Ronald Linda Monk of Austintown; six grandchildren, Joseph Sarah Lovequist Sheppa, Sara and Joseph Amanda Zoldak , Heidi, Andrew and Amanda Monk; and four great-granddaughters, Cameron and Mackenzie Zenko, Madelyn Monk and Gwendolyn Sheppa.
Donna was preceded in death her parents; her first husband, Joseph Zoldak; five sisters, Nellie Wem, Stella Korhut, Eva Naple, Irene Harrison and Virginia Parisi; and three brothers, Frank, Charles and Paul Szymanski.
Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
