Donna Scheetz

YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the West Austintown United Methodist Church for Donna J. Scheetz, 83, who passed away Wednesday evening at Hospice House.

Donna was born Feb. 5, 1927, in Pontiac, Mich., the daughter of John A. and Caroline Ashley Hall.

Donna was a 1944 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. She was a Democratic Precinct Official and was active with the Mahoning County Special Olympics, activities at the Leonard Kirtz School and issues involving Developmental Disabilities. One of her proudest moments was witnessing her son, David win four medals at the Special Olympics World Games in New Haven, Conn. in 1995.

Her husband, Robert F. Scheetz, whom she married July 6, 1948, passed away Feb. 2, 2010.

Donna leaves her five children, Janet L. Scheetz of Austintown, John R. Scheetz of Columbus, David J. Scheetz of Austintown, Robert F. Tamara Scheetz Jr. of Canfield and Paul E. Scheetz of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren, Renee Scheetz of Columbus and Jason Dana Scheetz of Richmond, Robert Scheetz of Virginia, Chelsea Scheetz of Richmond, Adam Scheetz and Kasey Scheetz, both of Canfield; and three great-grandchildren, Jason, Bradley, Bryan Scheetz, all of Richmond.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Gladys Farrimond.

Family and friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel and Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the West Austintown United Methodist Church.

Material tributes may take the form of donations to Mahoning County Special Olympics or Hospice of the Valley.
