Donna Jean Spassil, 79
Austintown A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 12:30
p.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Donna Jean Spassil, 79, who
passed away peacefully Wednesday evening at the Hospice House surrounded by
family.
Donna Jean was born April 4, 1928 in Hubbard, a daughter of Thomas B. and
Gladys Price Connelly.
Donna Jean first worked at Gray¹s Drugstore and then the Golden Drumstick
Restaurant as a waitress. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Church, its senior citizens, Altar and Rosary Society, and for many years
volunteered with her husband to work at the church festival. She was also a
member of a card club of very close friends for over 51 years.
Her husband, Lawrence "Larry" Spassil, whom she married May 7, 1949, passed
away May 27, 2005.
Donna Jean leaves a daughter, Patty Donald Opsitnik of Poland; a son,
Raymond L. Spassil of Cumberland, Md.; and four grandchildren, Kimberly
Larry Herold, Michelle David Gross, Nicholas Spassil, and Shane McDade;
two step grandchildren, Andrew Marlana Opsitnik and Elizabeth Opsitnik;
and two step great-grandchildren, Nathanial and Matthew Opsitnik.
Besides her parents and husband, Donna Jean was preceded in death by two
sisters, Dorothy Smith and Stella Mae Merritt; and a brother, Thomas
Connelly.
Family and friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m.
to noon at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, where a
Prayer Service will be at noon.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like material tributes to take the form
of donations to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH
