Donna L. Steinbeck

YOUNGSTOWN - Donna L. Steinbeck, 87, passed away peacefully at her residence on August 8, 2024 while surrounded by her family.

Donna was born on September 5, 1936, in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of the late Cecil O. Garman and Margaret A. Kelly Garman. She graduated from Chaney High School in 1954. In 1958, she married the love of her life, James R. Steinbeck. Donna and James lived in Las Vegas, NV, for 23 years and returned to Youngstown in 2012.

Donna was a switchboard operator for 12 years at Mirage Resorts, Las Vegas, retiring in 2001. Prior to moving to Las Vegas, she worked at St Elizabeth’s Hospital for 8 years, first as a switchboard operator and then transferring to the medical records department. Before starting a family she worked at Ohio Bell as a switchboard operator. When her children were young she was a Den Mother for the cub scouts and girl scouts. She loved going camping and traveling across the United States with her family. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, and reading.

She was a loving mother to her four children, treating each like they were the special one. The time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled her with much love and joy. She gave her love and time selflessly to her family and friends and was always there in their time of need. She also did this with animals, always caring for strays and taking care of them as if they were her own. She was always looking out for them with food, lots of love, and of course, treats.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughter Karen (Pearly) Carr, sons Robert (Stephanie) Steinbeck and Jeffrey Steinbeck. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Brittany (Geoff) Trees, James (Kate) Steinbeck, Michael Steinbeck, Matthew (Claire Miller) Steinbeck, David Steinbeck, and David Carr. Donna will be fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren Isabelle Trees, Eli Trees, Kennedy Steinbeck, and Milo Steinbeck. She was preceded in death by her loving husband James R. Steinbeck and her son James R. Steinbeck Jr.

A visitation and memorial service to honor Donna's life will take place on August 16, 2024, at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, 3701 Starr's Centre Dr., Canfield, OH 44406.
