SALEM - Services will be Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Boardman-Canfield Chapel for Doris Elizabeth Slagle Malone age 78 of Green Twp. who passed away Monday morning at the Essex II Care Center of Salem from complications from congestive heart failure after a long illness.
Doris was born October 13, 1926, in Canfield, the daughter of Noah A.and Hazel E. Wellendorf Loveland.
A lifelong resident of Green Twp. she graduated in 1944 from Canfield High School where she was a member of its honors group. She had attended Penn-Ohio College and worked at the Heller-Murray Company as a bookkeeper from 1944 to 1952. She later worked at the Industrial Paper Shredder and Cutter Company of Salem from 1971 until 1983 when she retired.
She was a 60 year member of the Dublin Grange in Canfield.
Her first husband Dale W. Slagle whom she married June 10, 1951, died March 21, 1978.
She is survived by her husband William Malone whom she married November 19, 1989, a son David A. and daughter in law Debbie Slagle of Greenford, Ohio, two steps Patrick Malone of Canfield, and Andrew Malone of Lowellville, Ohio, two sisters, Sarah Reynolds of Columbiana, and Mildred and husband Paul McCue of Green Twp., seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son Dean H. Slagle, a brother Ralph J. Loveland, a sister Vera Cook, and a step son Michael Malone.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Wednesday, and for 1/2 hour prior to services Thursday morning at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
