YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will begin Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Church, for Dorothy B. Amann, 86, who died early Saturday morning at Hospice House.
Dorothy was born Aug. 8, 1929, in Leavittsburg, the daughter of Jacob and Thereza (Smendrovac) Ban.
She was a graduate of Leavittsburg High School. Dorothy was a faithful member of St. Christine Church, the Christian Women's Club, and a school volunteer at St. Christine. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and traveling, and will always be remembered at a fantastic baker.
Her husband, John K. Amann, whom she married April 26, 1958, died April 23, 1996.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Michael) Savko of Austintown; two sons, John K. Jr. (Carla) Amann of Austintown and Robert Amann of Salem; two sisters, Helen Hefko of Vienna and Mildred (Lewis) Williams of Tacoma, Wash.; five grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Anthony Savko, John Amann III and Tianna Amann; and two great-grandchildren, Carlena Savko and Michael Savko.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and sisters Anna Misier, Kathryn Guzan, Barbara Gilkes and Mary Ban.
Family and friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
