AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Joseph Church for Dorothy Edl, 87, who passed away early Tuesday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Dorothy was born Sept. 22, 1923, in Warren, to Daniel and Sadie Muntean Ogrean.
Dorothy was a 1941 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and was a part of the first group of majorettes. She was a manager for Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authorities. She enjoyed golfing, roller skating, ball room dancing, crosswords, jumble and scrabble.
Her husband John W. Edl Sr., whom she married Dec. 20, 1942, passed away Sept. 6, 1985.
Dorothy leaves Lynne Ann Balla of Cleveland Heights, Joanne Edl of Austintown and Karen Lee Eggers of Osprey, Fla.; a son, John W. Beverly Edl Jr. of Plain City; two sisters, Patsy Cabuz and Virginia Boyles, both of Warren; a brother, Walter Ogrean of Warren; eight grandchildren, William, Jeremy and Lesley Balla, Christopher and Timothy McFall, Sheri Lynn Pintzow, Jennifer Ayala and Lisa Prusakiewicz; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Anna Finta and Sarah Pope; and a friend, Henry Chance.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
