BOARDMAN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Christine Church for Dorothy Margaret Lavorini, 88, who passed away Thursday morning at Hampton Woods.
Dorothy was born March 8, 1929, in Brackenridge, Pa., daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Baehm) Rice Sr.
Dorothy was a 1947 graduate of Har Brack Union High School in Brackenridge. She was a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. She was a member of St. Christine Church and the 5th Wheel Bowling League. The bowling team's name was Gus's Girls. Dorothy enjoyed reading romance novels, playing the slot machines, watching game shows and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Her husband, Lido Lavorini, whom she married Oct. 15, 1950, passed away Nov. 4, 2000.
Dorothy leaves her children, Michael (Julene) Lavorini of North Jackson, Terry (Lisa) Lavorini of St. Clairsville, David Lavorini of Poland, James (Kathy) Lavorini of Poland, Robert Lavorini of Boardman, and Susan Cotton of Las Vegas; and her five grandchildren, Brain Lavorini, Victoria (Seth) Miller, Kayleigh Lavorini, Aaron Cotton and Cole Lavorini.
Dorothy was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Lavorini, and a brother, Arthur Rice Jr.
Family and friends may call on Monday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take the form donations to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
