Dorothy Thornton, 89
YOUNGSTOWN-Services will be Monday at 9:30 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, and at 10:00 AM at St. Brendan Church for Dorothy S. Thornton age 89 who died Thursday at Ron Joy Nursing Home. Dorothy was born October 4, 1917 in Charleroi, PA, the daughter of George M. and Emma E. Sheeler Sherwin. She came to this area in 1922. She had worked at General Electric as an inspector for over 41 years retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Brendan Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Msgr. Mears Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus council # 3930, St. Ann, s Court, the Catholic Daughters of America # 1875, and the GE Quarter Century Retirees Club. She and her husband were also avid Notre Dame fan's and would annually travel to South Bend to cheer on the Irish at least once a year.
Her husband Paul J. Thornton whom she married November 28, 1946, died June 9, 1992.
She is survived by her sister in law and care giver Peg Brown of Austintown, her nephews and nieces Jay and Scott Barber, and Kathy Ron Carroll.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a sisetr Vivian S. Barber.
