AUSTINTOWN - A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 821 Herman Road in Butler, Pa., for Douglas L. Perine, 56, who died unexpectedly at his home.
Douglas was born Oct. 12, 1959, in Plattsburg, N.Y., the son of Frank and Mildred (Bauer) Perine.
He was a graduate of Keystone High School in Knox, Pa., and received his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a basketball scholarship.
Douglas worked 20 years as a federal correctional officer at the Federal Correctional Institute in Elkton until retiring.
Besides basketball, his greatest hobby was fishing.
Douglas is survived by his brother, Bradley (Cheryl) Perine of Oswego, Ill.; a sister, Linda Perine of Largo, Fla.; and his nieces and nephews, Krista, Jason (Lauren), Devan Marie, and Rachel Perine. He is also survived by many cousins, aunts and uncles in the greater Pittsburgh area.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
