CANFIELD - A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in Canfield, for Dr. Priscilla Costich LeBrun, who died Saturday afternoon with her husband by her side.
She was born April 20, 1935, in Rochester, N.Y., a daughter of Edward J. and Florence Reisinger Costich.
Priscilla graduated from Nazareth College of Rochester with a BS in Chemistry in 1957, and from Fordham University with a Master of Science degree in Physical Chemistry in 1959. She received a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Akron in 1983.
She had worked as a research chemist at the Kodak Research Labs in Rochester, and Harris Intertype Corporation in Cleveland, in their labs on photocopying inks, where she received several patents and corporate patent awards.
She had taught Chemistry and Physical Science at Kent State University and was a tenured professor of Chemistry at Ashland University.
She was a 60-year member of the American Chemical Society, and she held local section offices, and was a member of the National Council and the National Constitution Committee.
She was awarded several National Science Foundation research grants and served on the NSF Research Grant Review Committee. She was awarded the Distinguished Alumna Award by Nazareth College in 2007.
Priscilla married John "Jack" LeBrun on Aug. 12, 1961, and had two children, J. Andre "Andy" and Lisette.
She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, assistant den leader and had worked with the Ballet Western Reserve, sewing costumes.
Priscilla was a member of St. Michael Church, it's Altar Guild, and was a lector.
Besides raising her family, working and volunteering, she loved to do crossword puzzles and to play bridge with the Canfield Friendship Club.
Priscilla leaves her husband, Jack; son J. Andre (Jenny) LeBrun; daughter Dr. Lisette (Dr. Joseph) LeBrun Saadey; sister Prudence "Pru" Schmidt; brother Alan Costich; five grandchildren, Rachel, Abbey, Scott, and Hannah Saadey, and Johnathen LeBrun; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dennis (Mary) Costich.
Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel and on Saturday from 9 to 9:50 a.m. at the church.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester.
