ALEXANDRIA, VA. - Memorial Services will be held Sunday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel for Mrs. Edith G. Madar, 91, formerly of Heatherbrae Drive in Poland, who died Nov. 13, 2009.
Edith was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Youngstown, a daughter of Martin J. and Geraldine Carr.
She was a 1936 Chaney High School graduate.
She married Alvin J. Madar June 12, 1943, and he died Sept. 27, 2006. In 1976, they moved to Tennessee, where she was an office manager for K-Mart, and they returned to Poland in 1979. She continued working for K-Mart as an office manager until retiring in 1982.
Edith leaves a daughter, Terry A. Mark Leking of Springfield, Va.; a son, Dean A. Madar of Palm Springs, Calif.; and two grandsons, Adam Allison Leking and Michael Leking.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; four brothers, Gerald E., Joseph M., Mark A. and Leo A. Carr; and two sisters, Virginia Brenner and Geraldine Knuff.
Friends may call one hour prior to the memorial services on Sunday, Dec. 6.
