Edward Allason

YOUNGSTOWN ? Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel for Edward Allason, 91, who passed away early Tuesday morning at his residence.

Edward was born July 15, 1919, in New Castle in Tyne, England, immigrating to the United States when he was two years old. His family settled in Youngstown when he was eight years old.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a Staff Sergeant for the 90th Depot Supply Squadron in the 16th Air Depot Group. He was in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns.

Mr. Allason had quite a resume of jobs, he worked with the Youngstown Board of Education, Youngstown Sheet & Tube, Youngstown Steel Door, Sealtest Foods and then to Mahoning Bank, Bank One, and Sky Bank, where he retired when he was 85 years old.

Edward was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Lynn Allason, who died in 2002 and two sisters, Frances Garrett and Jeanette Ditchfield.

He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Billman, whom he married Aug. 22, 1945; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Allason Kyle and her husband, Pete of Atlanta and Elizabeth Jane Berry and her husband, Jack Jr. of Poland; a son Terry Edward Allason of Boardman; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call one hour prior to the services on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
