HUBBARD - Prayers will be held Monday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Columba Cathedral for Edward Berry, 83, who passed away early Thursday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Edward was born July 13, 1926 in Youngstown, the son of Stanley and Elizabeth Evanko Berry.
Edward was a graduate of Chaney High School. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving in World War II. He was first employed at Ambrecht Motors as a mechanic, then worked for Anchor Motor Freight as a diesel mechanic.
He was a member of the VFW Post and St. Columba Cathedral.
Edward leaves his wife, the former Betty Smith, whom he married Dec. 2, 1950; five daughters, Bonnie Russell Putt of Youngstown, Diane John Mahinis of Wellsville, N.Y., Maureen Chuck Cook of Hubbard, Hollie Dave Baker of Austintown and Liz Augie D'Amato of Youngstown; three sisters, Margie Donnely of Poland, Lillian Holmes of Texas and Betty Gil of Arizona; nine grandchildren, Rich and Ed Rankin, Mike Baker, Alexis and Victoria D'Amato, Heather and Kimmy Putt, and Kally and Nicholas Mahinis; and seven great-grandchildren.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jean Marshall; and two brothers, Ralph and Stanley Berry.
The family will be receiving friends Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
