POLAND - Prayers will be held Thursday, March 14, 2019, at 10:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Church for Edward Joseph Brown, 82, who died Saturday evening at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman.
Ed was born July 19, 1936, in Youngstown, the son of Edward John and Margaret Hegarty Brown.
He attended St. Edwards Elementary School and was a 1954 graduate of Ursuline High School.
An entrepreneur, Ed owned and operated the Cotillion Room Restaurant on Belmont Avenue before moving into the trucking industry as the owner/operator of Transport Management Associates.
He served on the Board of Directors of the Difference Makers and was a past board member of Community Corrections Association. He was also a member of the Democratic County Central Committee, Presidents’ Day Society, Gyro International, St. Theresa Monastery Community, Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, and a past member of the AOH.
Ed was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and took great pride in watching his grandchildren participate in all their school and sporting activities. He enjoyed time in south Florida and annual trips to New York City, but most especially he loved spending time with his family and lifelong friends at his cottage on the shores of Lake Erie in Madison.
Ed is survived by his wife, Gail Morrow Brown, whom he married, May 4, 1963; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Chris Daprile of Poland; his sister, Maureen Clark of Boardman; his sister and brother-in-law, Patti and Tom Bayne of Florida; his four grandchildren, Christopher, Patrick, Matthew, and Annalise Daprile; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law Richard Clark; infant grandson, Angelo Daprile; and many dear friends.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, March 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
