YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church for Edward F. Lynch, 79, who passed away Tuesday morning at his home.
Ed was born Nov. 17, 1933, in Youngstown, a son of the late John A. and Alice J. (Mahoney) Lynch.
Ed was a 1952 graduate of Ursuline High School. He worked for 13 years at Republic Steel until 1974 and then worked in sales at Trinity Industries for 22 years, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3289 Aries, the Vagabond Golf Association and was a 3rd Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus 3114 of Youngstown.
Ed was also very active with a support group at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home.
His wife, the former Patricia J. Hankey, whom he married Aug. 3, 1957, passed away July 3, 2004.
Ed leaves his two daughters, Mary Ann (Mark) Cornman of Youngstown and Kathleen (Rick) McCliment of Mansfield; three sons, John (Cathy) Lynch of Wheaton, Ill., Edward (Janice) Lynch of Wexford, Pa., and Dan Lynch of Columbus; nine grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Catherine Bean of Boardman.
Ed was also preceded in death by a sister, Jean Lynch; and a brother, Robert Lynch.
Family and friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
