POLAND - Prayers will begin Wednesday at 9:30 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Church for Edward Massaro, 88, who died Saturday morning at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.
Edward was born Oct. 13, 1925 in Youngstown, to Felix and Edith Labato Massaro.
He was a 1947 graduate of South High School. Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country during WWII. After the war, he was a member of the National Guard for several years. He was also a member of the American Legions.
Edward worked as a general manager for Common Wealth Insurance Company. He also was a musician, where he enjoyed playing the harmonica and especially the accordion.
His wife, Imogene (Miller) Massaro, whom he married April 30, 1947 died April 24, 2013.
Edward is survived by his son, Phillip (Roberta) Massaro of Poland; sister Rosemary Housteau of Youngstown; a granddaughter Brianna Massaro; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Dominic Pontillo, Anthony Massaro and John Massaro; and two sisters Carmella Farris and Regina Delsander.
Family and friends may call Tuesday from to at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Lake Park Cemetery.
