POLAND - Prayers will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Church for Edward S. Murberger, 81, who passed away Tuesday at his home.
Edward was born Aug. 12, 1931, in Youngstown, a son of the late Edward S. and Isabel (Uber) Murberger.
Edward graduated from The Rayen School. He was employed at the A&P Warehouse in Salem and later at the K-Mart Distribution Center, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Dominic Church since 1967.
Edward leaves his wife, the former Elizabeth "Betty" Krohmer, whom he married Oct. 20, 1951; four daughters, Bobbie Ann (Pete) Santamas of Youngstown, Jayne (Don Cross) Davis of Warren, Beth (Brian) Durkin of Struthers, and Mary Ann (Ken Sicafuse) Murberger of New Middletown; two sons, Edward M. (Jeanette) Murberger of New Middletown and George (Teresa) Murberger of Boardman; nine grandchildren, Steven, Lauren, Bryan, Amanda, and Veronica Murberger, Nicholas and Matthew Santamas, Michael Cross and Dominic Durkin; and a great-grandson, Spencer Murberger.
Family and friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
Material tributes may take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley or the ALS Foundation.
The Murberger family would like to give a special thanks to Edward's caregiver Diana Smith for her care friendship and compassionate care.
