AUSTINTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church and prayers offered at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Edward L. Sellers, 88, who died Wednesday morning at Briarfield at the Ridge.
Edward was born July 29, 1921 in Youngstown to the late Frank and Ann Kurtz Sellers.
He was a 1940 graduate of South High School. He earned his bachelor's degree at Youngstown College and his master's degree from Youngstown State University.
Edward served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a surgical technician and was in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines.
He retired in 1983 from the Austintown Schools. He taught sixth grade for 25 years at Frank Ohl Middle School.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Rita C. Kennedy, whom he married Feb. 15, 1947, and she died Sept. 6, 2002; a sister, Ann McCullum; and three brothers, Frank, Paul and Joe Sellers.
Edward leaves two daughters, Janice Sellers of Houston and Dawn Larry Hamilton of Mineral Ridge; a son, Chris Sellers of Austintown; two granddaughters, Lauren Brad Smith of Columbus and Courtney Hamilton of Boston.
Friends may call today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Entombment will be at Green Haven Memory Gardens.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley.
