Struthers - There will be services Saturday at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church for Edward J. Slattery Sr., age 71, who passed away early Wednesday morning at his home surrounded by his family.
Edward was born January 8, 1935 in Youngstown, a son of Michael J. and Ruth E. Hart Slattery.
Edward was Vice President of Warden Electric. He was past president of the National Electrical Contractors Association. Edward was owner and operator of University Electric. He was currently serving as president emeritus. He was an accredited representative to NECA in 1977, Treasurer in 1977, Vice President in 1979 to 1982, President from 1982 to 1983 , and Governor from 1984 to 1985. Edward enjoyed hunting in Seagle, PA. with friends. He was as an antique car enthusiast and restoring antique cars. He enjoyed snow mobiling and was a member of the Pennsylvania and Michigan Snow Mobile Association and the Buick Club of America. Edwards was an active committee member for the annual Immaculate Coception School fundraising dinner. Edward enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also shared his love of cars by taking his family to car shows all around the country.
Edward is survived by his wife the former Mildred Speicher whom he married December 1, 1956; his mother Ruth Slattery of Youngstown; two daughters Mary Patrick Bundy of Struthers, and Sue Butch Wire of Struthers; three sons Ed Slattery of Brookfield, Pat Kim Slattery of Lowellville, and Tim Beth Slattery of Poland; two sisters Ruth George Finch of New Bern, N.C., and Margaret "Peg" Slattery of New Springfield; fifteen grandchildren Patrick, Mary Beth, Michael, and Colleen Bundy, Katie, Ruth Ellen, Emily, Eddie, Maggie, Danny, Patrick, Taylor, Timmy, and Caitlin Slattery, and Richard Wire; and two great grandchildren Sarah and Michael Bundy.
Edward is preceded in death by his father and a brother Michael Slattery.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Poland Chapel.
