AUSTINTOWN There will be funeral services Monday at 9 a.m. at the
Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, and 9:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, for Edward L. ³Red² Stephenson, 80, who passed away Wednesday, April 18, at his home from a long illness with heart
disease.
Edward was born April 24, 1926, the son of Herman and Catherine Patton Stephenson, and moved to Youngstown as an infant.
He was employed at the Anchor Motor Freight as a driver for 26 years, retiring in 1990. He was a Marine veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He also served in the Air Force Reserves.
He was a member of the I.H.M. Church in Austintown, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Marine Division Association and the U.S.S. Leyte CV-32 Association. He also volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen.
He leaves his wife, the former Elizabeth Jean Hudak, whom he married Sept. 7, 1965; three daughters, Suzanne Christopher Conti of Chagrin Falls, Shelley Christian Evans of Austintown and Catherine Jane Bill Lewis of Austintown; a son, Edward L. Stephenson of Austintown; a sister, Peggy Matt Maharick of Girard; and 12 grandchildren, Kayli, Alexa, Jeffrey, Billy, Tyler, Samantha, Dominic, Brianna, Cami, Branden, Emily and Mia.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
